Q: What is the "bamboo shuffle" technique?

It is a 100% artisanal cladding technique where bamboo slats or split culms are overlapped and tensioned directly onto the facade structure in multiple directions, creating an organic and visually striking weave. Unlike prefabricated panels, the "embaralhada" is created on-site, making each project a unique work of art.

Q: Why wasn't it possible to prefabricate this facade to speed up the process?

Because the essence of the "embaralhada" lies in the tension and interaction of each piece with the structure and with the surrounding pieces. It is an organic process that cannot be replicated with templates. This case proves that the BOV Method recognizes the limits of industrialization and possesses the artisanal mastery to execute projects that require the human touch.

Q: How is it possible to replicate an artistic work without the original team, almost 15 years later?

Through the combination of two things: our Historical Record Protocol and a culture of training. The detailed photographic archive of the original project served as our "map." The culture of training teams with high "visual acuity" allowed us to have artisans capable of reading this map and interpreting the artistic intention of the original design.

Q: The facade was destroyed by a fire. Isn't bamboo a highly flammable material?

Any natural building material, including wood, is combustible. The crucial issue for commercial projects is the treatment. In the restoration, we applied our Fire Safety Protocol to ensure that the new facade met current safety standards, uniting the original aesthetics with the safety engineering that the BOV Method demands today.

Q: Aren't the 10-meter-high doors extremely heavy and difficult to operate?

Counterintuitively, no. One of the great advantages of bamboo is its extremely high strength-to-weight ratio. A door of this dimension, if made of solid wood, would be extremely heavy. Because it is made with a metal structure clad in bamboo, it becomes surprisingly light and can be operated with high-performance pulley systems, uniting monumental grandeur with daily functionality.

When Memory is the Only Blueprint

In 2023, an arson fire attempted to erase a landmark of Belo Horizonte architecture. The façade of the former Tetum Store, an organic and fluid bamboo weave, created almost a decade earlier by Bambu Carbono Zero, was reduced to ashes. The challenge that came to us, as inheritors of this legacy, was not technical in an industrial sense. It was profoundly human and artistic. There was no process to clone. The original work was pure art, born from the sensitivity of the 2015 team. How could we, with an entirely new team, revive not just the form, but the soul of that façade? How could we assure architect Eduarda Corrêa that her visionary work would be reborn with the same identity?

The Triad of Engineering, Resolution, and Aesthetics

This project required the BOV Method to operate in its most sensitive mode. The solution was not in templates or machines, but in combining historical process engineering with the skill of our elite team, to solve the replication problem and deliver the original aesthetic.

The first stage was an archaeological immersion. Thanks to the detailed photographic record of the original project — a practice that is now a pillar of our method — we were able to study every angle, every curve, and every point of tension of the original weave. The project's memory became our blueprint.

We discarded prefabrication. The "bamboo shuffle" technique is a dialogue between the artisan and the façade. Each piece was tensioned and fixed individually, one by one, at the construction site. Our team, endowed with extremely high visual acuity, did not merely follow the photos; they interpreted the intent behind the original design to perfectly recreate the aesthetic.
